About this site
This is the unofficial site for Richard Ashcroft ...
The first incarnation of Richard Ashcroft Online burst forth into the virtual world early 2007 and was my first fumblings with website creation! (Although the 'friendly forum' was started in October 2006, initially as a 'free-forum'). I had absolutely no experience of web-design/development so was literally fumbling around in the dark, with a forum member Hans Kalisvaart to help light the way initially.
Originally the website had a Verve section, but when The Verve reunited mid-2007 I decided to split the site into two and acquired another domain: The Verve Online. My 'helping Hans' disappeared into the night and I was left to go it alone... and somehow The Verve Online struggled into existence.
Late 2008 there followed a lull as The Verve faded away without a 'goodbye' and personal tragedy struck in Spring 2009 when my husband (a big Verve/Ashcroft fan too) passed away suddenly, also without a goodbye. For a time the sites were neglected, but the friendly forum kept its doors open thanks to the dedication of its excellent moderators and the (relatively!) good behavior of its excellent members :)
Early 2011 I decided to rekindle my interest in web-development and teach myself more in-depth aspects of it. It's a huge learning curve using only online tutorials, and I've used Richard Ashcroft Online as a starting block (or a 'guinea pig') to practice on. I know there's a long way to go before I reach the top of that curve... and whether you like the site or not, it's all been my own work, my own templates, design, images, backgrounds etc. So I'm wholly to blame if you don't like it! (Sorry). The Verve Online remains unchanged at the moment, but who knows what might happen to it in the future?!!
Visit the home page for all the latest news and updates, tour dates etc. (and you can find all the older news on the archives page).
The full gigography also includes setlists where available (it's currently still a work in progress so please be patient for the missing setlists!) and indicates whether an audio bootleg is available.
The video page has many superb performances to choose from, the very best of the youtube videos, and will be added to from time to time.
The lyrics section includes the lyrics for every Richard Ashcroft song and is as accurate as possible. They have been extensively transcribed and checked; not merely copied from other lyrics sites which often contain many more inaccuracies. It's updated if and when further corrections come to light. Feel free to contact me if you want me to consider any changes.
The Gallery holds a collection of my favourite Ashcroft photos, I hope you like it. The photos used have been collected (mainly from the internet) over a number of years and I hope the copyright owners will forgive me for using them. If anyone wishes them to be removed or have their names included, then please contact me using the contact form.
The Music Player has a selection of songs and will be changed or added to from time to time.
The Downloads link takes you to my Friendly Forum bootleg blog (which has replaced the Valium Skies blog), where you'll find an ever changing supply of unofficial bootlegs for Richard Ashcroft and The Verve (you won't find any official recordings here). If you have any boots you care to share for including on the blog, they would be more than welcome!
Don't forget to check out the 'Links' page for more great sites to visit!
If you have a few minutes to spare why not join us in the friendly forum for a chat about Richard Ashcroft and/or The Verve.
I hope you enjoy your visit, and if you like the site why not make an entry in the Guest Book to let me know which part/s you enjoyed most?
Thanks for visiting :)
